Only if you combine the "Giant pole, giant step" as "Giant pole-step". Pole-step could describe the rose color wall that looks like a giant step because of the California St. slope. Pole could describe the round molding on top of the step that goes along the wall. Pinkish color rose and the molding are together in the painting.

Even though I like the Fairmont location it bothers me that the verse lines lack strong image matches in the painting. In the SF painting we see a cap covering the dragons nose. That should imply a bad smell not a sweet smell. The cap looks like a sailors cap or is it the cap of a cable car operator ? Was there a cable car stop in front of that Fairmont stonewall door?
I don’t see any image in the painting to match Stanford or Court or three high posts . There is nothing to indicate Ace car park in the painting or KSFO radio station. Why mention “ bird ,plane, wind” when all he needed to say was that a special machine is required. When we look at the 3 solved hunts we can see in the paintings ,the fence, the home plate/ port hole , the columns/ planter. For BP to use “Twain” as part of the verse rather than someone else ,then Twain must have a strong association to that object like no one else.

Below, we see a big backward F covered with water. Claws form upside-down C,P, perhaps California and Powell Streets. I say streets because they have "blocks" on them. A at foot of the F has wings on top so maybe ACE logo. Top of the F and the open claw and middle part of F kinda form the shape of club (playing card i.e. ace of club). Yes, all 3 solved puzzles had the dig spot in the paintings. If rose indicates the color of the wall, then tangent to the rose is a line that goes from the red molding down. Notice the shadowing there. This may indicate a corner (yellow circle). So maybe at corner of California St. and Powell is the target area. Fire callbox and hydrant there. Also X may mark the spot. X is below the sharp end of the triangle. Vine growing on the wall like in the painting. maps.app.goo.gl/juxf2qYtxLipwpU97 I covered all your other questions in the last few posts here. I don't see any image match to the lake area. Yes, there's an arched window and dragons. In SF they are dime a dozen. On the rose table we literally have a map with California and cable car and Fairmont logo present. I know, not buying it!

Everything is a maybe until one recovers the casque. I would like to think that BP would not bury a casque along the side of a busy street with no cover, especially when he is dressed up for the Tonga room.

I never thought he would bury a cask in a ball park. Now people are making Swiss cheese out of Wescott Park in Manteo. It would be easy for him to go to the garage, put his orange safety jacket on and bury the thing. It's well understood that "Everything is a maybe until one recovers the casque." No point to repeating it over and over.
BTW I know of 3 different solves with 3 different radio stations. KFOG at Ghirardelli (Cove solution), KOIT Coit solution, KSFO Fairmont solution. Sounds from the sky, KFOG, fog is in the sky. KOIT, Coit tower is up in the sky. KSFO, SFO is SF Airport, planes in the sky.

I like the idea, except for the issue that 896 California Street isn’t the address of the University Club (800 Powell Street), but an arbitrary Google Street View construct. How does Byron come up with “896 California Street” in 1982?

Just guessing, but maybe the fire box or fire hydrant or tram stop or US mail box was numbered

Even-though the TV show "Hotel" first aired in Sept. 1983 at Fairmont Hotel, the intro graphics shows the outline of the Fairmont windows (image 1 templet) with the cast members.

There's a correlation between the rose table, street map and the fence map. -- Large SF in both fence and table maps. -- Red F has curly stem/branch. -- Vertical yellow line represents "Giant pole-step" or California St. -- Horizontal yellow line would be Powell St. -- Red and yellow lines create an X with the cask next to it on the fence map (green circle). -- Circle with dot in center symbol represents Sun/gold or treasure (purple circle, fence map). -- maps.app.goo.gl/R9GbmEefxkZ37Gny6

I have the feeling there are references to all 12 cities in the fence too, but the California/Powell intersection is a four way intersection. The area you highlighted is a T intersection... Seems like you're forcing it in there
