In my opinion "ww" is the key to the hunt. Why do I think that? Look at the Donleg Orchards front gate. You can see "key" in the exact spot where the boards cross. To the immediate left of "key" is a perfect little arrow pointing at two w's.

Hmm... I still haven't managed to lure people back into this hunt? I need to up my game. Look at the map on pages 16 and 17. If you list the six states with arabic numerals (1-6) and just look at the first letter of each one, the first three (CWW) are a vertical reflection of the final three (MMC). Coincidence? Possibly, possibly... Is it telling us to fold some pages? Possibly, possibly...
That's pretty cool. It's a new one to me.
I'm not ready to jump back into this one, though. Good luck!

I had a theory that the handle of the Little Dipper on one of the pages would point out important letters contained in the state names. For example, if you overlaid the Little Dipper page over each state page (with them perfectly aligned) it would point out specific letters. It got really close to spelling sensible words but since I didn't have the original book, I didn't have faith in it. I was able to make it spell "S ULEN INDIANA." Just having "Indiana" as a result should be encouraging. I invite you to try it

Thanks, aloftcroft! That might be easier for me to get someone to do.

Hi choice,
Once upon a time I read music for the saxophone.
I play guitar by charts but not really reading notes.

Hi montrapier,
I don't know if you're familiar with a French hunt known as "On the Trail of the Golden Owl" (well, that's what I know it as in English) but in the early stages of planning the hunt they were going to hide a golden egg instead of a golden owl.
I have a reasonable theory for where the egg was to be buried. Maybe the theory applies to the owl and maybe it doesn't. It would be worth metal-detecting the spot if I lived there- but I don't.
Thanks for the interest.

His answer to Q3 had me wondering 'what' in the text possibly hinted to this hunt being different than the previous 3. Do you think it is this part: Everything seemed turned upside down, which I think made my brain view all of the clues from a different perspective. I stumbled back to home base, pained body parts collapsing onto the desk chair in the bedroom. It did not take long on the Huffs' computer for me to confirm my new theory. or something else? I wonder if the clue is related to ambigrams. Even if it's not related, this is very interesting...
Try your name here...

Custard Marks, are you related to Xavier Marx? Different spelling I know, but I have relatives with the same last name but spelled different!

This is an interesting subject. It seems like it would be simple to prove or disprove.

Ok Folks bare with me. Sluggo might like this. I won't bore you with alot of details that have already been discussed. This however I believe is new. If you look on the left side of the pic the string from the fairy's foot goes to a plumb bob. If you follow that to the floor it is above an inverted image of the north gate at the Elizabethian Gardens. I had wanted to show a picture of that gate and the inverted image but can not figure out how to do so (yet). In the verse it says "Under what is touched or first seen Standing" The gate would be last touched as you exit the park and first seen when standing on the shore looking in. Well here's the bad news I made a BOTG search first week in Jan of this year. The gate was there in 2013 but has been destroyed now. The columns of the gate remain however the pathway leading out of the park has been washed away over time ( about 20 feet ) down over 3 feet. I dug anyway but it is safe to say that the box has been washed away by storms at some time between 2013 and now. I will try and figure out how to post the images I'm speaking of but you can find images of the north gate online. I'm crossing this off of my search list. I have some other thoughts on this one but I definitely like yours.

Welcome, Dutch!
Getting someone to help search is usually pretty tough. Good luck.
I like your idea about the shadow being in the painting instead of an actual place.
Rock on!
