Hey Jenny! Now you will have another treasure hunt to add to the "Solved" category!

Who found it? Anyone on this board? OOPS. Meant to quote astree. Well, he didn't actually say it would fit in his cupped hands but that he had maybe given us a hint to its size. What I thought at the time was that at least it's not the size of a coin or some object like that. Everyone that guessed that it was the flute at the beginning turned out to be right. So now I get to find out if the spot that I (and 5000 other searchers) checked was where it was actually located.

Thanks. It's not 100% complete, similar to what I did on the first one. As you recall I did not have the town on that one but still was able to pinpoint the overlook. I have done basically the same thing with this one. I know where I have to go to search and from information on the scroll itself I would know exactly what I am looking for. I sent an email to Jenny telling her what I found so she has what I have solved to confirm what I am saying.

I have this one solved now except for one cipher which does not really matter. I could find the final location once there. It will be interesting to see how close I was when someone actually finally goes and gets the stone. I am certainly not going to be driving out anytime soon and since I don't know anyone personally in the area to go look for me I will pass. Now back to scroll 3.

The scrolls seem to get more difficult as they are released. I think this one is the most challenging yet. I have some of the ciphers worked out, but I still have some to solve. I agree.

Me thinks maybe someone has a little trouble with spelling? (Not you)

Got it! Thanks! And congratulations on your speedy solve! Good luck on Scroll 2! Thank you! And good luck to you too, if you are participating. I hope so! Yep, I'm in for all four. I won't be traveling to any of the locations since they are too far away unless one happens to be in South Texas. I just like trying to solve these things.

Actually, there are several clues that lead to Hot Springs, including one very specific confirmer clue. (Not the Hodaddy clue) My opinion is in contrast to yours in that I think it would be highly probable someone would hold on to the object, especially at this point in time. It is only 6 1/2 weeks until August 9th so it would not be that long to hold on to it. Pete says "If the treasure is not turned in by...". He says nothing about when it is found. Would you wait 6 1/2 weeks to turn it in for an extra $5,000.00? That's a lot of money for most people so I think if it was found recently, or even if it was found back in March, someone would possibly hold on to it. It would be an additional $5,000.00 to help pay the taxes on it if nothing else. The problem becomes moral to some people, me included, as to whether you let people continue searching needlessly or spread the word it has been found. Pretty soon (Aug. 9th) this issue will be moot.

I agree with everything you posted. Yes, we all have a right to act the eay we do, and we have the right to post the things we want to post. I know there are no rules, but there often seems to be an "unspoken" etiquete between treasure hunters. We are all here for the same reason, and there should be some mutual respect. But not everyone holds to the same standards. I understand that someone could have found the treasure already, and is waiting for that August deadline to pass before they turn it in. I think that was a poor design by the author, and any hunter has the right to hold off turning the treasure in so that they can get that extra $5,000. I don't think the author had intended someone to wait. I think he thought the money would be an incentive to end the hunt had it gone on past August, not to drag it out to August. Would I drag out the hunt for an extra $5,000? No. I can honestly say that I would not. I have participated in many treasure hunts. I know what it is like to go on a search and spend time and money doing so. I know of many people who are going on searches for this hunt or who have plans to do so. If I had already found the treasure, I could not just sit back, biding time, when I know people are out there working hard on this hunt, putting in a lot of time and effort, and possibly money into this hunt to travel. More money than the $5,000 would be wasted by the many people looking for something that isn't there. I think it would be rude to knowingly allow people to continue to search if you had the treasure in your hand. A decent human being would not treat others that way. I think the treasure is found. And I think it will be turned in after August 9th. I also think the solve is Hot Springs, Arkansas. !00% agreement with you on what you just said and your solve.

I would like to add something to this discussion and hope I don't offend anyone too much. I agree with GeneticBlend about what to do in the case of BT&B. I personally would have a hard time not revealing it immediately if I found the treasure because of the "other" treasure hunters and saving them needless expenses in searching for something that is no longer there. However, I also believe that unless you have teamed up with specific individuals and have an agreement in place, there is no such thing as "fellow treasure hunters". There is no obligation on anyone's part to share information with anyone and those, like myself, that choose to post information on forums such as Mysterious Writings do so completely of our own freewill with no strings attached. To think that anyone has any kind of "obligation" to the group that posts here is wrong in my opinion. There are probably plenty of people that are searching for all of the different treasures out there for us to find that never say a word, but benefit from our posts because we choose to release our information in a public place. I also do not believe it is right to censor someone that chooses to release the details of their search and clues found if they choose to do so. If they release clues you have solved it is highly likely that many other people have also found them. Can you imagine how many people have already been searching in Minnesota, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisiana just to name a few? I know for a fact that a place I have searched has been searched many times and will be searched many more times I am sure. For some reason, I feel like the treasure has been found and someone is actually waiting for the extra $5,000.00 to become available. (I am still searching though!) If you are in it for the money that makes complete sense. Why throw away $5,000.00? If other people choose to search after you found it, that was their choice, hoping they beat you. There are no guarantees made to anyone that the treasure will be there when you choose to go look. You should know about the August benefit too. I think that some people (definitely nowhere near the majority) that post in forums like Jenny's and Dal's sites become possessive of the hunts and think they "own" them and are therefore "entitled" when that is absolutely not true at all. Each individual participating in a hunt has their own objectives such as enjoying getting out in nature, researching the Internet, the thrill of the chase, win at all costs, etc and every single one of them is a valid reason, whether we agree with them or not. It is not for us to judge other searchers and I sincerely wish everyone the best of luck. I would be thrilled to read someone found Fenn's chest or solved Fandango or any of the other hunts in which I am actively participating. As for me, I have not found any of the treasures but I keep on looking. Again, I am not trying to point fingers at anyone, but simply hoping to show that there are many views and directions people choose to follow when they participate in these hunts and we should all be tolerant of each other. Good luck and keep on searching! TxTH

You need to figure out who the text is about, and it will all come together. Ok, I get it now...Thomas Jefferson, inventor of the first swivel chair, author of the Declaration of independence..."all men are created equal" (5 words?) "Notes on the State of Virginia" (his only book) page 30..."The only remarkable Cascade in this country, is that of the Falling Spring in Augusta."

In another thread someone asked for people to post their solves or what they had found so far. Rather than answer there I thought it best to create a thread that peple knew there were spoilers within. Having said that this is what I have found so far: Red letters: is it the fourth ( clue to the solve for the word wisdom below? It is the fourth line of text when you solve it.) (EDIT: 4th of July, Independence Day...Thomas Jefferson) Blue letters: over look Underlined: va = Virginia Near 2 to the 6 = near 64 (raise 2 to the 6th power = 64, interstate 64 in Virginia) LSANRXLCA = ?? EDIT: Covington (Vigenere cipher) TFPALJ = Wisdom (3 letter shift down) - The stone of Wisdom UGQBMK VHRCNL WISDOM ABES FO ETER = Base of tree From text of scroll:"a cascade of scenery rivaled all of those of the country, known to be majestic at Spring and Fall." = Falling Springs Falls overlook north of Covington, VA on I-64. Overlook located on US 220 north of Covington. So though my solution is not complete, if I lived in the area and the scroll had not already been solved, I would have been headed to this overlook to scout it out. Looking at videos, I do not see any fences down on the trail below so I am not sure it is down at the falls themselves. Seems to be a good location. I am still working on the one encrypted clue. This of course could be completely wrong but it is what I came up with since I got the scroll this morning about 8:00 am. Have a great weekend everyone! TxTH
