Very interesting.
Thank you LostChaser for asking such a great question, Thank you Forrest for answering the question, and most of all Thank you Jenny for posting the exchange.
Good Luck

Forrest mentions... 'when the time is right...'..... does that mean it is not 'right' now?

Forrest mentions... 'when the time is right...'..... does that mean it is not 'right' now? Combined with his other statement about June 1 and general guidelines about searching in the summer, I suspect the last clue may require summertime to locate. There's another quote where Forrest said it could be retrieved in "any weather" but he added the condition that the searcher would need to know the precise location (which may not be possible).

That quote is in the 'Weekly Words' here.... mysteriouswritings.com/weekly-words-from-forrest-fenn-on-the-thrill-of-the-chase/If you know precisely where it is you can probably retrieve it in any weather (Posted Dec. 11th, 2015)I agree that with all the uncertainty of traveling now, that might have prompted him to add 'when the time is right'... it all depends where you live and where you are going to search.... The 'any weather' comment I feel suggests that it isn't way out in nowhere land, and so in the wintertime, it 'could' be retrieved, but only if you hid it there. lol. That seems to be the only way you would know 'precisely' where it is....so Forrest could retrieve it.....but that does offer some help in location. If he can go get it....then it isn't in an extreme location, like some of these searchers have gotten themselves in trouble with....

If he answered this recently doesn’t he just mean when it’s safe to travel during Covid-19 pandemic?

"You may even have an advantage..." makes me somewhat nervous. Since we don't know how much time is left, I think I'll go back to the beginning and reassess the intire thing. I fear that maybe I have let my mind stew on all of these old ideas for far too long.

If he answered this recently doesn’t he just mean when it’s safe to travel during Covid-19 pandemic? Yes, most likely...but where is the fun, imagination, and rabbit hole, for that...lol

Thanks for posting Jenny. My takeaways are: 1) reconfirming the treasure has not yet been found - yay! 2) don’t worry about all those long time searchers failed ideas and solves. Figure out your own solve. 3) For BOTG use common sense and be safe!

but..... with Forrest saying: You may even have an advantage because your mind is fresh with new ideas.
...it sounds like no one has solved the clues to find it.... and fresh ideas are needed....?

It's good to have New Searchers along for the ride IN the right spot. Welcome to The Thrill Of The Chase. I look forward to see and hear what y'all come up with.
I'm sure whoever finds it will be well aware of the time when it is found.

I found the question far more interesting than the answer.

If he answered this recently doesn’t he just mean when it’s safe to travel during Covid-19 pandemic? Yes, most likely...but where is the fun, imagination, and rabbit hole, for that...lol I VOLUNTEER FOR THE RABBIT HOLE!!! 'when the time is right...' There is a recurring theme with this treasure hunt.... TIME I believe most know that I feel the final clue is one related to time, and is at night. Forrest mentions the TIME magazine in his trash can (one man's trash is another man's treasure). Once Upon A While is exactly that... once per day. Forrest put on your site Jenny, the tease of Preston's forward. The forward was almost exclusively dedicated to the treasure and the final clue. Forrest mentioned Doug Preston wrote a lengthy foreword that beautifully sets the tone for what is to come.If Doug wrote about the treasure and the final clue then what is to come in the book is ...the final clue. The book, I feel, was dedicated to that last clue. When that "lead Searcher" did not find it that summer he "gutfully" predicted, then he REVISED the book to add ONE final chapter...Dizzy Dean and TIME magazine. Why would you not tarry scant? wait around for a little bit. Waiting for what? The right time.

He probably was like the smartest guy ever!! He knew he found it, so he decided to go home play on the phone, make plans for treasure huntin, all sorts of neat and fascinating things. Probably stark craving mad now tho, coroner virus, Rockies been closed, and of course you can see all the inner net you'll ever need just after a month!!!
