If a Medicine Wheel has anything to do with solving Forrest's poem, I'll be burning TTOTC, TFTW and both versions of my OUAW. I don't think you will have to do that zaphod. However if there was any credence in the "try the wheel" mention it is more likely related to the Zodiac wheel than the medicine wheel. There was however a comment by Forrest relating to searchers who were close which went something like: "Dame fortune never spun her wheel to lure them back" or some such quote. That would seem to relate more to astrology wouldn't it.

I think once someone goes to the area (Bighorn Medicine Wheel area)and reads the ttotc, they will see that the book describes the general area. Some examples from my memory are : Getting a little bald at first = little bald mtn Sign with his name on it = forest service rd 12 Died waiting for the light to change =. Summer solstice DO NOT TOUCH = rope around the medicine wheel Teacher with ropes =. rope around medicine wheel Spring creek = five spring creek Sitting under a tree surrounded by cows A part of your is undiscovered until you love a cow = the five spring basin is used for cattle. There are many more but I do not currently have my book available No grizzlies-there which makes it safe for families to hunt
What is wrong with Forrest doing a quest there overnight in the hidey spot and thinking that helped him eradicate his cancer then goin back to leave a treasure ?

Remember this too: * The main man (Francis Brown) of the Wheel Coalition was born and Died in Arapaho, WY. But he lived in Taos, NM when they formed the wheel coalition. Forrest probably knows Francis (and Richard) Brown * Joe "Medicine" Crow was part of the Cody Museum and we know he knew Forrest because we have pictures of them together with Al Simpson (Wyoming government) dalneitzel.com/tag/joe-medicine-crow-high-bird/
* Forrest loved and collected Native Indian things all his life! He did not like "art", art was his means to make money to spend trading Indian Items (fact and he said it) * Forrest likely helped "Joe Crow" and "Francis Brown" (and others) collect funds from the Rich (such as the Rich folks in Cody) to help FIGHT the LUMBER companies in the late 1990s early 2000's to expand the protected area of the wheel! He helped CEMENT it historically by helping increase the area.
Why?
Maybe to give back? Maybe when he was sick with cancer, old Joe and Francis told him, "Forrest, you spent a lifetime with Indian lore, why not "TRY THE WHEEL", take a PILGRIMAGE for a quest, it might help?" So FF did and we know the results. He KNEW where he wanted to hide the chest, so he helped PREVENT the place from changing in history. He knows how long the wheel been there, and how long it will remain! Perfect for a hunt!
By the way, remember how him and Donnie ate their candy bars the FIRST day, then had no food for 4 days while looking for Lewis and Clark? Well on a vision quest, the natives EAT the first day, then they FAST for four days doing nothing but sitting in a CAIRN at the wheel and observing the canopy of STARS to seek spiritual guideance in their CHURCH in the mountains.

Hehe. Didn't Sean Dodson do that? You trying to steal his thunder? I think you're right: Sean's book did meet with a fiery end. I have to find a way to one-up that. Maybe have an astronaut take it up to ISS and then "accidentally" lose it on a spacewalk. That would soon lead to a marvelous, if short-lived blaze of glory. ;-)

I used that Scrapbook as another hint for Gallatin. What's on Senator Simpson's tie? An alligator -- contains all but the N of Gallatin, or yields (Gallatin + oar) if you include the article. Alligators seem to come up more than average with Forrest, between his pets Elvis and Beowulf, and the "Don't make the alligator mad until you've crossed the river."

June Creek. (June is a warm month of the year) that leads to Shoshone River, which I believe the put in is below the Rex Hale Campground (HOB), that leads to Mummy Cave. If you are driving on the rd, you pass it at about 500 ft from the road. Also, Forrest always said that he had hoped that people would discover his rotted corpse, and that he wanted it to take 900-1000 years to find the treasure, a clue to a Mummy IMO.

Perhaps there will be no paddle up your creek...because it is an oar.

Mummy cave isn't a cave, it was simply a shelter cut into the wall. They excavated the base of it, made the discovery, but it is all filled in now so there is nothing at the location. Been up and down (and BOTG) at almost every place on that road, even under the bridges and up at the camp sites. I thought it was on that road for a long time, but if it was, perhaps we missed it. Note: We also looked near the laughing pig, wayfarers chapel (outdoor church), blackwater creek area, newton springs, near both of Buffalo Bills old places, even the ski area. Nada
