I'm posting these here because they seem almost right, but not quite.
1. The tile at 116 Royal Street in New Orleans. It marks the Sazerac Bar where the drink was popularized. Sazerac now owns Buffalo Trace. In this case, the cock-tail has a point on his head and feathers on his butt. Then give away rye whiskey for the Sazerac Cocktail, not Bourbon??
2. The Red Stick sculpture at Southern University in Baton Rouge. It's certainly pointy and has feathers on its butt. It's also a great deal larger than 4x4 inches.

I have a persistently nosey nature.

Thank you. I found a crossword puzzle generator in a particular place, and wanted to know if it was linked to a mini-hunt. Now I know it isn't.

Lukas has told us that the clues will be obvious in hindsight. What makes a clue obvious? I think the 313 area code for Dearborn, MI might be considered obvious. When there is a fawning, a deer is born. But beyond that? I must not be smoking the right stuff to make it obvious.

Found whilst searching for Ali Baba. 1.thesun.tv leads to a page of extreme weirdness.

Can somebody please tell me if a crossword puzzle was involved in solving mini hunt #1?

I just looked at the benchmarks at Franklin County Airport, the only benchmarks I could connect with "fly". But none have arrows on them. Changing subject abruptly, 4 by 4 inches is a small plot but by no means the smallest available. Gotohellmi.com offers you the chance to buy one square inch of Hell, MI for $10.

Okay, stanza 3 is probably Dearborn, Michigan. And the picture posted is almost definitely Ten Pin Lanes on Treasure Island, Florida. But how do you get from Michigan to Florida *without* the picture? As we were supposed to do before Lukas posted the pix??

At least one element of Senet is probably in our puzzle: That is to move "snake fashion" up one column and down the next. A poser: Does our final puzzle consist of monographs (30 letters) or digraphs (15 letters)?

Not to hijack you, but the previous solves are linked in Jenny's message "Sacred Scarab Released".

Re END63=9. In my opinion (completely unproven) for the last step you travel up and down the columns of numbers snake fashion. Possibly up the left, down the right and up the center. When you hit the 63, that's the end and actually means 9 rather than 63.

Ah, the joys of modern computing. According to an online Polybius Square decoder, the beetle says "I axed fat Clancy".

I see that TOBM = TOMB and HANK = ANKH are spelled out in the bottom square. That along with the two snakes makes me think we have to double back to spell some things. Or perhaps the snakes are ASPS or ADDERS?
