dalneitzel.com/THE TREASURE HAS BEEN FOUND It was under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains and had not moved from the spot where I hid it more than 10 years ago. I do not know the person who found it, but the poem in my book led him to the precise spot. I congratulate the thousands of people who participated in the search and hope they will continue to be drawn by the promise of other discoveries. So the search is over. Look for more information and photos in the coming days. f

My brother and I went there to search a few times...beautiful area, but no chest was found I also think it could have been found on private land owned by Forrest. The title to the gold part of the poem alluded to getting a title to land owned by Forrest where the chest was.

The finder made a mistake - they should have gone and got it on a Sunday afternoon in spring break

But if they found it today, they found it on D-Day. ;-) Wikipedia has already been updated with the news, along with Forrest's website.

My guess was Hermit Peak, in Santa fe, NM I was going by the first line that says: As I have gone (alone) in there a Hermit is someone that wants to be alone, and it is North of Santa Fe in the Rocky Mountains en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermit_Peak

Would love to see a solution book published by Forrest. At least we get some kind of closure! Well done all in your efforts, and great debates on here.

I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that the last time I went out to my spot will forever be the last time I was there.

Assuming we learn where it is, the 'special spot' is going to become some sort of pilgrimage place, isn't it?

Can't wait to read the unauthorized autobiography. That will be the real story I think.
