Maybe it's a twig to keep the bag of gold dust from blowing away. Wow, amazing.

Amazing to see at last, really glad Forrest got his bracelet. Thank you Forrest and everyone on here that's helped make this a great adventure - on to the next ones. We might never know but it would be excellent if the finder was from these MW shores. We could look out for anyone deleting all their old posts and keeping quiet I guess...

Note: found ON the ground, not IN the ground. Take that you searchers who insisted it was buried. ;-) My theory of sepulchered is still a possibility. At least this should squash the posts from all the boo-hooers demanding evidence it was found AND recovered. Gotta wonder about the buried / not buried comments from forrest.

Plastic bags and a rusty key. Not what I expected.

Remember the comment "to an ant, a puddle is an ocean" or something like that. This one's from the Isle of Wight, off the southern coast of England, famous for chines. Edit, the image thing didn't work, here's a link... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chine#/media/File:Chine_forming_on_soft_cliffs_at_Compton,_Isle_of_Wight.JPG

I wonder if that little twig gold eyed serpent is the blaze... couldn’t really find the blaze and not find the chest... You figured out the Chinese dragon coat bracelet? Serpents and rivers and ancient deities?

I wonder if that little twig gold eyed serpent is the blaze... couldn’t really find the blaze and not find the chest... I'm still not seeing it, plus there's a little branch poking off - a one-legged serpent? You can see where the rusting key has marked one of the coins, so some movement of the contents has taken place. The idea the stick is there to stop the bag of gold dust blowing away seems most sensible. You wouldn't leave it in for the photo if it just fell in. Anyway. Nice gold. Ignore the stick.

But why not just use a gold coin?.. Arrgh.

Where’s the shiny gemstones? No diamonds, no rubies or sapphires? Hmm ... there must be some explanation... why is this information so slow to come out? Patience, I know, I know. we need to have some patience.

Plastic bags and a rusty key. Not what I expected. Three careless photos tacked onto a discussion page at Dal's. Also not what I expected.

The needles and the twigs near the chest look like piñon . From what I can see of the pine cones they also look like piñon. That would mean the state is either New Mexico or Colorado and the elevation is below 7500 feet.
