Jenny, I just watched this video of you checking the lining of the chest. I also noticed the other items and there was a writing pen in there. Did you look inside the pen for a rolled up piece of paper? Just a thought. Don

I thought it was interesting they let him dig a SIX FOOT hole and look at how he is handling the soil from the hole. Privileges of the press I guess. I wonder if they would let me dig a six foot hole if I were to dig in Golden Gate Park?

Ok, tried to link to an image on ImgBB. Any advice on how to add the photos? Just added the link (that should work). When you first log in to the MW Forum, at the top, right under where Jenny has the "LOG IN FOR FULL ACCESS" thread, there is a thread about "Membership approval issues...". Open that thread and the second thread in there is how to embed pictures in your posts. That should help you out.

You could use a section of PVC pipe with PVC caps glued on both ends. That way you would have several choices in diameter to get the size you needed and it would be water tight for years. For the finder, it would be a delicate operation to cut/saw off one end of the pipe so you might need to allow room for them to do that.

Hi Astree. I just got a chance to check back on my post and see you have already discovered her post. As she said, she just doesn't have much experience with codes and now she understands she used a variation of the Beale code by counting letters instead of words as Jenny does in many of her puzzles. We learned something new and now we are just going to have to start saying..."_______ used the Speck Code for this cipher." lol

Here is my guess: I used the poem "The Punishment of Pride" by Walt Whitman from the source The New World 3 (18 December 1841). While researching angels/seraph led me to the site www.silverpoet.com where the angel of grief by William Wetmore Story is the main picture. He was also a poet. From the cipher clues I have the word "son". An angel of grief memorial is on the gravesite of William Scott Youree, son, in Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, Texas. Using the 6, 64, 9, 6 I get "come placed below come". If anyone is near there could they take a look. I live too far away. It looks like, from what you said about the numbers (6, 64, 9, and 6) giving you words, you are not using the numbers correctly. The author of the puzzle has stated on her YouTube posting that we need to find the source material and then go line by line extracting single letters. Take the first 4 numbers in the puzzle... 8 - 30 - 13 -1. To apply these you take the text you are using and from the first line of that text get the 8th letter, from the second line of that text you get the 30th letter, from the third line of that text you get the 13th letter, from the fourth line of that text you get the 1st letter...and so on to get the solution that will give you directions to the location of the treasure. From this we can see the text must have at least 73 lines of text and several of these individual lines must contain at least 60 letters. Hope this helps. Damm, looks like the cold spell in Galveston last February took out that palm tree in the spot I believe the casque to be buried. Might be a good time to volunteer to remove the stump.

This is why I think “ Giant” is in the description of the object and pole is a tree . This is the reference to the Giant Sequoia that Twain had cut down and most of the tree was turned into posts. I know it’s difficult since there are more than a few giant Sequoias around. n. I didn't know Mark Twain had a sequoia tree cut down. There was a tree named after him that was cut down but he didn't have it cut down as far as I know.

When I met with HCharles a few months later we talked about this line and he said "look for sign along the way" was a billboard next to the highway. That billboard was about 150 feet before the bluff. I interpreted LU to be the town of Lupton on the AZ border and EG to be East Gallup. HCharles said the LU and EG didn't mean anything that he could remember so I just lucked out on that. Halfway between them you will see the town of Defiance. In Defiance there is a self storage place that was visible in a photo HCharles posted on his old forum taken from the burial site. Couple that door visible at the storage building with the book for this search (when closed) you see on the cover a photo of the actual bluff with a very recognizable stain (like an hourglass on its side) on one of the flat faces. Using Google Maps, in Street View, this is the location and you can see the rock with the hourglass on its side clearly visible. Is that public or private land? All I can say for sure is that it is a literal dumping ground for trash. It was everywhere up there. Here is a Google Maps link to the site (Be sure and copy the whole link): www.google.com/maps/@35.4961125,-108.862958,3a,75y,82.78h,89.35t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1srHUlXk3JA2JdQcEEeiCnAA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en

Such wilderness and beautiful surrounding mountains.... I 'drove' down the path a little and came to this..... it says in the corner it is July 2016? but is it safe to try and get past the snow drift? I don't like the choices- possibly go through with potential to get stuck in the drift, or try and go around but loose traction in the gravel and mud on the bankside? What to do? lol... course in street view.... just tread on.... SV has its advantages! You would definitely have to travel through and hope for the best which brings to question...How did the Google cameraman get through the snow without leaving a track? I went down the road until just beyond the snow and looked back and you could see the motorcycle track. Aha! I knew they walked and had cars but I never knew about motorcycles until now but I guess it just makes sense they could do it.

Jenny, We can't get our images to post, only the link. The insert image icon accepts the link but when you click Insert Image nothing happens?
