Yes, I remember Johnstons' from the story. That is a strange website. It almost looks fake. Is it fake? Very weird.

Thecoywonder, have you posted anything on the facebook Breakfast Tea and Bourbon site? If you are waiting to hear back from Pete, you might get his attention by posting there.

Definitely the Mystery of the Belted Rubies. But I have another idea for the 3rd hunt.
Minotaurmoreno, I thought you were with a group of hunters. Are you searching for your group?
thecoywonder, how long ago did you report your find to Pete?

Time zones may be a way to differentiate a city, or hiding place for the treasure, once you have settled on where you think that place may be. But how can you tell which stories in the book belong to which hunt?
For example, we have the Mitchell and Timmy and story. I don't know which hunt that belongs to.

I agree that we are to follow Mitchell and Timmy. But I think their part in the book may be for one of the other two hunts, or maybe not, as I have not found a way to differentiate the hunts.

toppop, The Grey Lady is a newspaper, but not the New York Times. It is a hint to another area that is popular with this hunt.

Very interesting. It sounds exactly like the place I visited. However, I didn't find the treasure.
Did your treasure have anything written on it?
If Pete tells you that your submission is incorrect, will you tell us what it is that your daughter found? I am very curious as to what that object might be. Like astree, I too am leaning toward the object being a flute.
I am glad that you joined the hunt. I hope you won't lurk anymore, and that you will join in on our discussions.

Hello All! I agree with Jenny! Let's get this solved!
I recently wrote to Custard to find out if his Custard Quest IV was still active, and if the stone was still out there. I also asked him if he was aware of Jenny's MW site, as when his hunts came out, he often came to visit us on one of the other treasure hunting sites. He wrote back today, and this is what Custard had to say:
Hi, GeneticBlend! Ah, yes, my old pals at Tweleve. I remember you. I am still in 6th grade and still mowing lawns to make money to payoff the CustardQuest rewards. It's hard to believe it's been four years. Time has sorta stood still for me, I guess.
As far as I know, the last CQ stone is still out there. It was meant to be trickier than the first three, and I guess I succeeded. I've thought about giving hints over the years, but never followed through. The only hint I will give, and maybe I'll put it on Tweleve, is ... CQIV is different than the others.
I must stop - I've already said too much...
I was aware of the MW website. I believe she reached out to me before she wrote one of the CQ stories. There are also some vblogs on youtube by cowlazars, who emailed me last week. He mentioned CQ in one of his youtube vblogs and wanted to know about future CQs.
I'd love to do another CQ. In fact, as I hinted about a while ago, there is another stone already out there in the universe. I just have never written the investigative notes for it. If you find that one, you are a master CQer, I guess. Life has sorta gotten more complicated since the first CQs were written. Let's just say I've taken on a number of babysitting jobs since then, and that has put a serious premium on my time to write. But I do intend to write CQV.
Thanks for writing, GB. I will give some serious thought to CQV. It would probably come out via Facebook or a new website. The tech behind the current website is outdated.
Thanks again, and happy hunting!
Your pal,
Custard

You need to do further research on the Grey Lady. It may not be intended for NYC. Pete is a sneaky one.
There are many layers to the clues in this book. Once you think you've found something, think again. Many clues have double, maybe triple meanings. You have to keep digging.

Zaphod, since we only had the latitude, and I asked if it was New York City, you didn't reply in the affirmative, so I figured something in NYC wasn't what you were looking for. So I gave up on the latitude approach.
Anyway, I like the association to New York City. I have found several things in the book that make me believe NYC is an important city in this hunt.
As for this particular site, however, I can't agree that we are really pin-pointing something. But I won't rule it out.
There is also a Broadway Rolls Candy in addition to the other candy you alluded to.
Thanks for sharing your find. Interesting...
