I think it is a misprint. But I guess you can never be too sure.

Zaphod, I am still thinking about what you found on page 135 that you feel is a clue to a city. Let me ask this, is the city New York?

Zaphod and razorback, I disagree. I have found numerous hints/clues to Hot Springs. And if this ISN'T one of the solves in the book (and I think it is the MAIN solve), then Pete is playing a very cruel trick on us.
I agree with you razorback, that there are more than 15 clues to New York and New Orleans. But I think New Orleans is too obvious, and is most likely a red herring.
Astree is also correct, with multiple locations, it is difficult to differentiate which hunt/clues goes with which location. Pete said there are ways to be able to differentiate these, but I have not been able to figure this out.

I agree with everything you posted. Yes, we all have a right to act the eay we do, and we have the right to post the things we want to post. I know there are no rules, but there often seems to be an "unspoken" etiquete between treasure hunters. We are all here for the same reason, and there should be some mutual respect. But not everyone holds to the same standards.
I understand that someone could have found the treasure already, and is waiting for that August deadline to pass before they turn it in. I think that was a poor design by the author, and any hunter has the right to hold off turning the treasure in so that they can get that extra $5,000. I don't think the author had intended someone to wait. I think he thought the money would be an incentive to end the hunt had it gone on past August, not to drag it out to August.
Would I drag out the hunt for an extra $5,000? No. I can honestly say that I would not. I have participated in many treasure hunts. I know what it is like to go on a search and spend time and money doing so. I know of many people who are going on searches for this hunt or who have plans to do so. If I had already found the treasure, I could not just sit back, biding time, when I know people are out there working hard on this hunt, putting in a lot of time and effort, and possibly money into this hunt to travel. More money than the $5,000 would be wasted by the many people looking for something that isn't there. I think it would be rude to knowingly allow people to continue to search if you had the treasure in your hand. A decent human being would not treat others that way.
I think the treasure is found. And I think it will be turned in after August 9th. I also think the solve is Hot Springs, Arkansas.

You need to figure out who the text is about, and it will all come together.

What I have found on page 135 is a description of the Polar Race. If you look up the finishing time, you will find that those exact times were for a team of two people, Raymond Aaron and Roddy Caxton-Spencer in 2007. But neither of them were aged 60, and of course neither were named Robert. So my question is, who is Robert?

I haven't had a chance to check out page 135 yet. Been a little busy... I will look at it today and share my thoughts later. I am very curious about it.

The markers would have to be there to confirm the direction.

The forum is a great place to discuss ideas and theories. I don't mind anyone discussing something they found, or putting "feelers" out there to see if anyone else has come up with the same ideas or results. If the discussion centers around one subject or clue, I don't see much of an issue with that, as there are no confirmers to go with it, unless you have been doing your homework, and recognize it as something important. Otherwise, it just appears as something random.
I do find it rude that someone who decides to give up and quit the hunt, just dumps their ENTIRE, detailed solve out there for everyone to see. I know there are people who have worked hard to uncover things, and to have someone else go public with what they have discovered just doesn't seem fair. It also gives their solve to lurkers who really aren't part of the community and contribute nothing.

Thanks Jenny. Everything is okay. I think this was just a case of user error. I apologize.
