Not sure what you all are talking about but I will listen good. dalneitzel.com/2018/04/26/forrest-gets-mail-17/Roll Tide noticed the connection to "Calf Rope": Definition of calf rope (Merriam-Webster) dialectal —a cry of surrender they punched him until he hollered calf rope

Could be, but I doubt it. If you know you're close, you're unlikely to surrender. There are many indications that we're entering the end game.

FF doesn't appear to be a person that would "give up" - Curious. No, but he may be about to "surrender" his chest.

Of all the info concerning Chase, his is one that has boarded me the least. I try to nail down from his numbers the origin of his 1st clue. He pounds it in us to Count, But, there has to be a sign of progress or a principal cause, the why for if u will. I agree. Counting and coordinates has been my method for a long time, but where I diverge from OH! is that I believe it's essential to find WWWH first. Also, I don't believe the books provide complete answers, but simply hint at what's required. Trying to make hoB conform to a set of numbers derived from the book is to circumvent the work that has to be done on the poem. From what I've discovered, Kirwin has nothing to do with either hoB or the hiding place. The Chase is big and bold and the end can only be found by solving all the clues in order. There is a reason that you have to move from one precise spot to the next that will become clear later on in the search. At least that is my perspective.

I think that makes the most sense - trying to understand how to read the poem.

Go back to the first clue. Look for the precise spot.
Find the real hoB - that naturally follows from WWWH. Look for the precise spot.
Do the same with all nine clues.
Don't try to force-fit the "hints" to preconceived places. The hints will make sense AFTER you've solved each clue.
Yes, counting is important, but instead of spending months trying to analyze and tally every sentence in the books - and ignoring the ones that don't fit your theory - use that time on the poem.
These are my suggestions, and how to avoid a huge dose of confirmation bias. I know you'll ignore them, but good luck anyway.

Zap and rahrah, it's interesting that you both believe your solutions (or at least a good part of them) have been confirmed by the books, and yet you are both searching in different states. This reinforces my belief that everything you need is in the poem - and that outside references generate too many potential rabbit holes. I'll read the books after the chest has been found! I can get where I am going totally with just the poem, The Thrill of the Chase gave some very good hints to help with the clues - and Fenn SAID to read the book, the poem, the book again, lather, rinse, repeat. I've had my location since October 2016, so that was well before his Once Upon a While was released....it confirmed something important in my solve, and there are some hints in it, but I didn't rely on those, they're just confirmation to me at this point. So who is reading the hints correctly in the book? You? Zap? OH!? Three different searchers, three different states, and all believing that the book(s) have provided confirmation.

If The Thrill of the Chase isn't important, why does Fenn tell you to read it? Why did he bother to publish it? I think it is important. The trouble is that it is read as many different ways as there are searchers. Same with the poem, but at least with the poem there are only 166 words!

I won't find it this year. If there are final numbers they evade me. Yes, there are final numbers, IMO. But first, all the other numbers must be found - starting with WWWH. It would be almost impossible to find the final location without knowing all the others. There are nine clues - you can't jump ahead.

It could be that he honestly made a mistake when he used Google Earth for the story. Stintz Airport is exactly 619 miles as the crow flies but knot nautical. Benefit of doubt comes into play on every turn with Mr Fenn! The number does not relate to distance, IMO. I should add that I don't think FF makes mistakes with those written sources. He has said that he proofreads his emails three times; I suspect that he is even more careful with his books. If one thinks there's a mistake, it's mostly likely our own error.

The biggest hint is "nautical", but the number also has significance in my solve. It could be that he honestly made a mistake when he used Google Earth for the story. I'm dizzy and I'm not even blond. The pinball wizard has had me ricocheting back and forth until I didn't know if I was coming or going. Hoping for a replay...
